Keep Knocking Down the Records: Pete Alonso
Date: August 18, 2019
The Mets scored six times in the top of the 7th inning to turn a one-run deficit into a 9-4 New York lead against the Kansas City Royals. Pete Alonso’s home run in the 9th inning rounded out the scoring in an 11-5 win. Alonso’s bomb was also his 40th of the season, breaking the National League rookie home run record set by Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2017. Before Bellinger, no NL rookie hit more than 38 since Frank Robinson in 1956. Enjoy this historic lineup card.
