Thole’s Role with the Mets
Date: 2009 to 2012
Catcher Josh Thole spent four seasons with the Mets from 2009 to 2012. The backstop played an especially important role during his final season in New York. On June 1, he helped make franchise history by catching Johan Santana’s no-hitter. Thole also caught for R.A. Dickey throughout his Cy Young Award-winning season that year. “Having the confidence to throw a wicked knuckleball with a runner on third base and a tie score — it’s a big deal. And he provides me with that,” Dickey said. In all, Thole appeared in 308 games for the Mets.
