Gary Carter Mets Hall of Fame Bust
Date: Inducted 2001
Eleven-time All-Star catcher Gary Carter joined the Mets at a crucial time. Traded by the Montreal Expos for four Mets players in 1984, his hitting, catching and leadership made Carter the final piece in the puzzle that would produce a world championship in 1986. He hit his 300th home run in 1988, leading the Mets to another NL East Division title that year. Carter was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.
