Constructing the Past: Hall of Fame Brick
Date: June 12, 1939
When the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum first opened on June 12, 1939, the sport already had a long tradition in the United States. New York City in particular remained the epicenter of the game. The Mets supported the Museum’s mission of preserving baseball history, and later received an original brick from the building. More than a dozen former Mets players and managers have been inducted into the NBHOF, including Tom Seaver, Mike Piazza and Casey Stengel.
