Tug McGraw was a Mets reliever for nearly a decade, serving as the emotional heart of the franchise in its early era. McGraw posted a 9-3 record with 12 saves during the 1969 championship season. By 1973, McGraw pitched a career-high 118 2/3 innings with 25 saves. His famous “Ya Gotta Believe!” phrase inspired the Mets during their quest to the World Series that season.
