Jerry Grote Mets Hall of Fame Bust
Jerry Grote was the Mets’ starting catcher during most of his tenure from 1966 to 1977. He proved his durability by catching every inning of 20 postseason games in 1969 and 1973. Grote’s handling of the young Mets pitching staff was crucial for their first World Series championship and his solid defense made him a top catcher of his time.
