On May 3, 1988, Darryl Strawberry’s three-run home run blew open the game as the Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves at home, 8-0. With the blast, Strawberry passed Dave Kingman (154) to become the all-time home run leader in team history. As of the end of the 2023 season, Strawberry’s 252 home runs remain the most by a Mets player.
