The Steel City Shows Some Love

The New York Mets gained many new fans after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City. Fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied together to show their support for the Mets with this sign. After 9/11, the Mets returned to baseball action in Pittsburgh for a three-game series from September 17-19. The Mets swept the Pirates and then returned home for the epic game against the Atlanta Braves on September 21, 2001.
