Tom Seaver Mets Hall of Fame Plaque
Date: 1988
Known simply as “The Franchise,” Tom Seaver is perhaps the greatest player to ever don a Mets uniform. Seaver debuted in 1967 and was named NL Rookie of the Year. In 1969, he won his first Cy Young Award while leading the Miracle Mets to a World Series championship. His second and third Cy Young Awards came in 1973 (along with another trip to the World Series) and 1975. When Seaver was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992, his 98.8 percent of the vote was the highest percentage ever achieved at the time. Seaver’s 198 wins and 2,541 strikeouts remain franchise bests.
