Jacob deGrom Shows Gratitude for Fans

Jacob deGrom tipped his hat to the Citi Field faithful who supported him during his successful 2018 season that ended with him winning the Cy Young Award. In this game deGrom allowed only two hits in eight innings lower his ERA to 1.70 for the season and he retired the final 20 batters in a row. He finished in style by striking out the final batter he faced — his 1,000^th career punchout. deGrom became the first pitcher in AL/NL history to allow three runs or fewer in 29 straight starts and the first to have 23 straight Quality Starts in a season.
