MCGRAW PREPARES TO CLOSE IN ’73 NLCS
Reliever Tug McGraw went to work in the final two games of the 1973 NLCS against the Cincinnati Reds. In Game 4, he entered in the 7th inning and remained until the 11th, keeping the Mets alive in the extra-inning affair. McGraw picked up the save in Game 5 by recording the last two outs. He allowed no runs and just 4 hits in his series appearances.
