MacKenzie Makes His Mark

The Mets purchased Ken MacKenzie’s contract from the Milwaukee Braves in 1961, making him the first player to join the new club outside of the expansion draft. He pitched his way to a 5-4 record that year — the only Mets hurler with a winning record in the opening 40-120-1 season.
