KRANEPOOL’S LUCKY LID FROM 1969
In 1962, Ed Kranepool broke into the majors with the Mets. The 17-year-old stuck with the expansion team through the growing pains of the 1960s and was an experienced and sound player by 1969 when the Mets embarked on a surprise postseason run. Kranepool’s home run in Game 3 of the World Series contributed to the Mets win over the Baltimore Orioles at home, 5-0.
