It Was My Day

Dwight Gooden’s starts were always attention-getting events and he loved to oblige. In 2020 he recalled, “The days that I pitched — and this is no disrespect to my opponents — I felt like that was my day, and it was bigger than just baseball. The people in the stands were there to see me. So I wanted to give them a good performance. By saying that, you put a little pressure on yourself, but at the same time you enjoy the challenge.”
