History in the East: NL East Title Ticket
The Mets made MLB history by clinching the first-ever NL East division title on September 24, 1969, with a 6-0 shutout of the St. Louis Cardinals at home. Fans in the posh $3.50 field level seats were close to the action and might have been the first on the field after the triumph. The Mets fared well under the lights that season, posting 27 wins in “NITE” games at Shea Stadium.
