Dealing With a Defeat: 1969 World Series
Date: October 11, 1969
More than 50,000 fans packed Memorial Stadium for Game 1 of the 1969 World Series, where the Mets lost to the Baltimore Orioles, 4-1. The Orioles blanked the Mets until the 7th inning when they scored on an Al Weis sacrifice fly, but it was too little and too late. Despite losing the first game, the Mets would win the next four in a row.
