Inking the Mets Into World Series History
Date: October 11, 1969
In their only loss of the 1969 World Series, the Mets dropped Game 1 to the Baltimore Orioles on the road, 4-1. They faced that season’s AL Cy Young award winner, Mike Cuellar, who stifled the Mets batting. New York Post reporter Maury Allen recorded in a scorebook Cuellar’s 8 Ks.
