Carter Makes History at Fenway
Date: October 22, 1986
After dropping the first two games of the World Series at home, the Mets needed to rally at Fenway Park to stay in the 1986 Fall Classic. With a win in Game 3, the Mets did just that. Gary Carter joined Yogi Berra, Gene Tenace and Johnny Bench as the fourth catcher in World Series history to launch two home runs in the same game as the Mets won 6-2. Both of Carter’s homers were over Fenway’s famed Green Monster. When asked after the game for his general comments, the energetic Carter asked back, “How much time do I have?”
