A Silly Seagull: Cyclones Bobblehead
Date: early 2000s
The Brooklyn Cyclones introduced Pee Wee in 2003, their second mascot named after a Brooklyn Dodgers legend. The Mets-affiliated minor league club has a strong tradition of recognizing the borough’s baseball history. Outside MCU Park is a statue of Dodgers Pee Wee Reese and Jackie Robinson, capturing a moment in 1947 when Reese put his arm around Robinson in a show of solidarity. Mascot Pee Wee is the adopted son of fellow mascot Sandy the Seagull, who are both named after Dodger Hall of Famers.
