A Score of Strikeouts

The Mets struck out 20 opposing batters for the first time in franchise history as New York stopped the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-3. Jacob deGrom struck out 13 of the 19 batter he faced and Joely Rodriguez, who earned the win, struck out five of the six batter he faced in two innings of work. “Today we saw a guy at the top of his game and was able to execute all four pitches,” said Pirates manager Derek Shelton.
