What’s Your Name? Darryl Hamilton.
Date: 1999 Season
As the Mets were gearing up for the playoffs in 1999, they acquired versatile outfielder Darryl Hamilton from the Colorado Rockies. In 55 games over the rest of the season he hit .339 with five home runs and posted an .898 OPS. Perhaps the highlight for Hamilton was hitting a grand slam against the Rockies in a key September win for the Mets. “It’s been a fun six weeks,” said Hamilton after the game. “I hope it won’t end.”
