VOTED MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED
Date: 1969
The Mets were optimistic about their young pitching staff ahead of the 1969 season. Second-year hurler Nolan Ryan and rookie starter Gary Gentry stayed cool under pressure once the Mets reached the postseason. They combined efforts in Game 3 of the World Series, where Gentry earned the win and Ryan the save.
