Timmy Trumpet Serenades Diaz
Australian musician Timothy Smith, known professionally as Timmy Trumpet, knew little of baseball growing up Down Under as he was mainly a cricket fan. Mets closer Edwin Diaz had used a remix of Tommy’s song “Narcos” as his walk-in music since his time with the Seattle Mariners, but on this day, Timmy Trumpet was in attendance at Citi Field. Timmy threw out the first pitch and was ready to play live if Diaz entered the game. Sadly for the Mets and Timmy, New York fell to the Dodgers, 4-3. Happily though, Timmy was able to stick around and played live for Diaz as he entered the next day to close out a 2-1 win over the Dodgers. “It’s incredibly humbling and a great honor that a world-class athlete is using my song as inspiration to run on that pitch,” said Timmy, who declared himself a “Mets fan for life.”
