Jacob deGrom Carries on Seaver’s Tradition

The Mets honored legendary pitcher Tom Seaver following his passing on August 31, 2020. As part of the tribute, Jacob deGrom and the rest of the roster wore no. 41 sleeve patches. In deGrom’s final appearance of the season on September 26, the ace had a Seaver-like performance of 10 strikeouts in a pandemic-shortened seven-inning ball game. deGrom and Seaver are the only pitchers in Mets history to win multiple Cy Young Awards.
