deGrom’s Cy Young Season: Lineup

In a bizarre game, Jacob deGrom returned from the injured list but had to wait an hour for a rain delay after warming up. Then deGrom threw a scoreless 1st inning against the Philadelphia Phillies, but it took him 45 pitches to do so, including 20 Phillies foul balls. Surprisingly, deGrom was removed from the game after the inning as the Mets eventually fell to the Phillies, 4-2. The pink lineup card was part of a commemoration of Mother’s Day. Money raised from the game-day auctions benefited breast cancer charities.
