First World Series Trophy in Mets History
No one saw it coming, except for Gil Hodges and the most committed of the Mets diehards. After 7 seasons of finishing in the NL basement, the Mets put together one of the most thrilling and unexpected seasons in MLB history in 1969, bringing home the biggest prize of them all. The “Miracle Mets” struck down the heavily-favored Baltimore Orioles in the 1969 World Series, 4-1, and the baseball world learned to never count out the Mets.
