THAT’S A LOT OF SALAMI
Carlos Beltran had quite a month of July in 2006. In this image, Beltran gives thanks after crushing a grand slam against the Cubs in Chicago on July 16. That day he and Cliff Floyd became the first Mets teammates to each hit grand slams in the same game and they both came in an 11-run 6th inning. In the next game two days later, Beltran hit another grand slam in Cincinnati against the Reds. With those he became the second Mets player to hit grand slams in back-to-back games and the first since Robin Ventura in 1999. When Beltran hit another grand slam on July 30 in Atlanta against the Braves, he became the first Met and fourth National League player to hit three grannies in a month. It was one of two home runs that day for Beltran and he was the first Met since Gary Carter in 1985 to have back-to-back two home run games. “It seems like every time I make contact it’s for a home run,” said Beltran.
