Small Ball
Date: 1980s
Darryl Strawberry crouched behind the plate as a young boy took a swing at a pitched ball. During his playing days, Strawberry was characterized as a “caring gentleman who has a largely unpublicized history of donating large amounts of time and money to charities,” including the National Ileitis and Colitis Foundation, the March of Dimes and the United Way. Since retirement, Strawberry has become an Evangelical Christian speaker.
