Rollie Fingers Deals in 1973 World Series
Date: October 13–21, 1973
Oakland Athletics reliever Rollie Fingers appeared in six games during the 1973 World Series. The future Hall of Famer picked up 2 saves in the Series, but the Mets had the upper hand in the extra-inning Game 2. Willie Mays hit an RBI single off Fingers to break the tie in the 12th, and after a pitching change and a pair of A’s errors, New York took a four-run lead by the end of the frame. The Mets went on to win in 12 innings on the road, 10-7.
