Opening Day Doc
Date: April 5, 1993
In eight different seasons, Dwight Gooden got the ball on Opening Day to start New York’s year. The Mets went 7-1 in those starts, including a four-hit shutout over the Colorado Rockies in 1993, the first game in that team’s history. In a 4-0 win over the Rockies, Gooden struck out four and needed only 101 pitches to complete the game.
