Mets 1989 Spanish-Language Yearbook
Date: 1989
Baseball’s appeal extends far beyond the United States. In the decades after World War II, players from Central and South America started appearing on rosters and the influx of these international athletes diversified the fan base for Major League Baseball. At the same time, Spanish-speaking supporters became a critical and energetic part of the sport. The Mets issued a Spanish-language yearbook in 1989 to acknowledge and encourage their Spanish-speaking fans.
