Mets Break Home Run Record
Date: September 25, 2017
Travis d’Arnaud had two hits and drove in two runs as the Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves at home, 3-2. It was d’Arnaud’s home run in the 8th inning that was the final margin. With their 219th home run the Mets set a single-season record for long balls. Sadly the Home Run Apple malfunctioned — maybe from overuse — and didn’t pop up until three batters later! The Mets ended up hitting 224 that season but broke their own record two seasons later.
