Leiter and the Mets Pay Tribute

The 2002 season was both celebratory and solemn as the team marked its 40th anniversary in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Mets pitcher Al Leiter wore and autographed this home jersey from that season. On the first anniversary of 9/11, Leiter and the Mets played in Atlanta, where the lefty tossed a six-hit shutout for a 5-0 win in the second game of a doubleheader.
