Fans showed support of Mets ace and Appleton, Minnesota, native Jerry Koosman during the 1969 World Series. Kooz’s small-town upbringing contributed to his cool, calm and collected personality that helped make him a fan favorite in the Big Apple. It also didn’t hurt that Koosman dominated on the mound, earning wins in Games 2 and 5 of the Series.
