Keith Hernandez Mets Hall of Fame Bust
Date: Inducted 1997
After Keith Hernandez was traded to the Mets in 1983, he became one of the star players who powered the team in a victorious decade. During his runner-up MVP campaign in 1984, Hernandez helped the Mets to their first winning season in eight years. He earned another Gold Glove and All-Star nod in 1986 as the Mets took home their second World Series title. The following season, Hernandez was named the first team captain in franchise history. Retiring from MLB after the 1990 season, Hernandez returned to the Mets as a broadcaster in 2006.
