Jay Horwitz at Home with the Players

Jay Horwitz, head of the Mets public relations department for nearly 40 years, was right at home with the players during a spring training game in Port St. Lucie. David Wright later honored Horwitz by saying, “He’s been a teacher. He’s been a counselor. … You really mean the world to us as players. You’ve always had our backs. I’ve seen you get pretty close to fist fights with members of the media, and that’s certainly something that we’ll never forget.”
