In the Thick of Things With Keith Hernandez
Date: 1986
Keith Hernandez was usually at the center of Mets victories in the 1980s. The first baseman rallied the team in the 1986 postseason with his glovework and timely hitting. Hernandez drove in 3 runs in Game 7 of the 1986 World Series, an 8-5 Mets victory over the Boston Red Sox at home. The whole city was on hand to celebrate the event, including distinguished guests like Mayor Ed Koch (pictured by the dugout in the light blue jacket). There was good cause for all the excitement as this memorable win marked the second World Series championship in franchise history.
