Howe Cool: Art Howe Bobblehead
Date: 2000s
Art Howe was already a well-established manager when he became Mets skipper in 2003. He managed the Oakland Athletics in the Billy Beane era, using statistics to design the perfect team. The A’s steadily improved under his leadership, finishing with consecutive 100-plus win seasons in his final two years. He came off that success when he joined the Mets, and the team distributed bobbleheads in his honor. One fan opined, “Art Howe will remind people of Gil Hodges. His demeanor, his knowledge of the game and patience will make the players better … Art will show them Howe.”
