Hometown Hero: Willie Mays as a Met

Giants legend Willie Mays returned to New York City as a Met to finish his long MLB career, capping it off in the 1973 postseason. Mays had played for the New York Giants for six seasons before the team moved to San Francisco, and he remained a baseball icon in the Big Apple through the 1960s. His only appearance in the 1973 NLCS was Game 5, when he entered as a PH in the 5th inning. Mays recorded an RBI single and run and the Mets went on to defeat the Cincinnati Reds at home, 7-2.
