HoJo Makes the Cover

After years of playing in the shadows of greats, Howard Johnson emerged as a leader of the Mets in 1989 and graced the cover of the annual in 1990. In that remarkable 1989 campaign, Johnson recorded his second 30-30 season and earned an All-Star nod and his first Silver Slugger. He followed that up with a 23-home run, 90-RBI 1990 season in which he stole 34 stolen bases.
