Dykstra Sends the Mets Home Happy

With the NLCS tied at 1-1, the Mets were down a run in the bottom of the 9th inning in Game 3 and facing ace Houston closer Dave Smith. Wally Backman led off the inning with a bunt hit. One out later, leadoff hitter Lenny Dykstra, who only hit eight home runs that season, sent a flat forkball over the right field wall for an improbable walk-off win over the Astros. Dykstra shined in the playoffs for the Mets, collecting 15 hits in 13 games including three home runs.
