The Mets were up against strong pitching on a trip out west in June 1967, as recorded in a scorebook from the season. Houston Astro Mike Cuellar struck out 9 Mets in the June 1 game. The Mets made better contact in the next game on June 3 with 13 hits against the San Francisco Giants, but future Hall of Famer Juan Marichal limited them to 2 runs. The Mets dropped both games.
