As an 18-year-old minor leaguer, Dwight Gooden was terrified of pitching inside for fear of hitting a batter in the head as he did in high school. A pitching coach helped him get over the fear and learn to focus. The next year, Gooden put together one of the most dominating rookie seasons in MLB history.
