The 1978 Mets Press-Radio-TV Guide had a difficult task. The 1977 season had been a tough one for the Mets. The team had finished in last place for the first time since 1967 and had seen Tom Seaver leave in a controversial trade that fans quickly dubbed “The Midnight Massacre.” But 1978 was a new season and the media guide encouraged fans to come out to Shea to see what a rebuilt team could achieve.
