BELTRAN WALKS OFF THE CARDINALS
Date: August 22, 2006
The Mets trailed the St. Louis Cardinals at home 7-1 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning. What the Mets did not do was give up. A Carlos Delgado grand slam in the bottom of the 5th inning got the Mets back in the game and Carlos Beltran clubbed a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning to bring New York all the way back for an 8-7 win. “I just feel good,” Beltran said after the game, “being able to come through in that particular at-bat, to do something.”
