Baseball From Shea Stadium’s Inaugural Game
After two seasons at the Polo Grounds, the Mets played the first game at Shea Stadium, their new home, in 1964. They battled the Pittsburgh Pirates well but ultimately lost, 4-3. Manager Casey Stengel left his signature on this game-used ball. Overall, the Mets put up a 31-14 record for home openers at Shea Stadium.
