Mets Introduce Mr. Met and Shea Stadium

The 1963 Press-Radio-TV Guide introduced two Mets mainstays: Shea Stadium and Mr. Met. The Mets were playing at the Polo Grounds in 1963, but the team was preparing to move into the shiny new Shea Stadium going up in Queens. Mr. Met also made his mascot debut in 1963, showing up as a cartoon on multiple team publications
