Al Leiter’s World Series Gem

In Game 1 of the 2000 World Series against the crosstown New York Yankees, Al Leiter more than met the challenge. He allowed only 2 runs on 5 hits with 7 strikeouts against the team with which he made his big-league debut. Leiter left with a 3-2 lead after seven quality innings. “The guy is all heart,” said teammate John Franco.
