After the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants moved to California in 1958, National League baseball returned to New York City in 1962 with the Mets. Shea Stadium opened in 1964, and the Mets celebrated their longtime home during its 40th anniversary season with giveaway replica stadiums.
