Between the 1969 and 1973 World Series, the Mets maintained a solid roster of talent. A crew featuring Bud Harrelson, Willie Mays, Jerry Grote and others defeated the San Diego Padres, 2-1, at San Diego Stadium. Yogi Berra skippered them in his first year as Mets manager.
